The Art Colony Shops are a unique experience that includes skilled artisans working with metals, leather, brass, wood, glass and pottery. Located in the historic Alabama Row Cottages overlooking the Springhouse, The Art Colony Shops are just a brief walk from the North Entrance. Isabelle Abramson Porcelain

Isabelle Abramson is best known for her intricate carved porcelain vessels that focus on incorporating complicated patterns of negative space into functional works of art. Using only a razor blade and a tiny sponge, a single one of her pieces can take up to a month to complete.  Isabelle is self-taught and began experimenting with porcelain at a local pottery co-op while working as a school nurse in Boston in her early 20s. Isabelle is the newest member of The Greenbrier Art Colony. The Doll House - Garden Shop

The Doll House - Garden Shop features Fairy & Gnome Workshops, fairy & gnome miniature garden accessories, home & garden decor, unique gifts, vintage treasures, small plants and everything you need to complete your indoor and outdoor enchanted garden. This charming little doll house is located at the entrance of The Art Colony Shops on Alabama Row. 

Fairy & Gnome Workshop:
Daily, 10:00am - 5:00pm 
Create your own magical Fairy & Gnome Garden landscape during this one hour instructional workshop. Features the handmade jewelry creations of Susan Chapman Thomas, and the beautiful and unique works of glass artist Alex Brand. 

Glassblowing Demo: Monday - Thursday at 11:00am. 
Watch a live glassmaking demonstration in the Virtu Studio "Hot Shop" as master glassmaker Alex Brand and his team work with hot molten glass and skillfully forms it into an ornament, bowl or vase. 

Glassblowing Hands-on Experience: Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 9:00am - 12:00pm and 1:00pm - 5:00pm by Reservations. forms Receive one-on-one instruction during this glassblowing learning experience. Learn the fundamentals fo glassblowing and create your own piece of glass artwork.

Virtu Made by You

Virtu Art Glass Studio is proud to feature two glass art experiences at the Virtu Made by You Studio. Guests will have the opportunity to create their own designs, using glass fusing or sandblasting techniques. The experiences are offered for individuals or groups. Reservations are appreciated, but walk-ins are welcome. Studio space is also available for groups or special celebrations by reservation.

Glass Fusing Experience - Learn how to cut and layer small pieces of flat sheet glass, thin glass stringers, and crushed glass chips to create a personal suncatcher design. The suncatcher is heated in a kiln overnight and ready for pickup the next day. All materials and safety equipment are provided.

Sandblasting Experience - Learn how to strategically place stickers and tape on the surface of your glass to create your own personal design. The process is completed by sandblasting with compressed air, giving the glass design a frosted appearance. Finished pieces are ready to take home the next day.
